One story I will never forget there are tons more. I would like to share some of the funniest ,and treasured ones. Growing up with his large family on Taylor street. Going to a Catholic grade school, and High School together Jerry and I were good friends. We played ball together, and golf. He was the best in everything. Rarely did I ever beat him in golf. One day I made a great putt, and beat him on that hole. Jerry said : Awesome putt Kev only one problem. You put my ball in from 25' out thanks. He also was an awsome table tennis player as well. I think I managed to win a few of those but rarely.
I will never forget one day Jerry asked me to set some rat traps in his parents basement. Turns out his dad almost was scared to death. Thats when a rat ran across his foot. His mom asked us to plant some rat traps down in the basement to catch it. Jerry had other things in mind.. He had me come over in Gi Joe gear armed with our pellet guns to hunt the rat out. Hopefully one of our pellets would kill it. Well here I am in the dark basement of the Burns home scared to death. What does Mr. wise guy Jerry do sneak up behind me with his fingers by my neck , and shout eek! I don't know about the rat but I fired several rounds of pellets off , and did manage to knock out a light bulb, Eventually the trap worked and the rat was dead.
Jerry was a great friend to grow up with. I just regret never staying in touch after that. we had our own carreer's . Went on formed our separate lives. I will never forget him I have the best memories of him.
Peace my friend. Someday will meet in that wonderful place of Heaven . Share our stories.
God Bless

I sadly found out about Jerry's passing way to late. We were school best friends.
Played on the same softball team together. I along with his family am deeply shaken. Jerry was a great guy. Although we went our separate ways. I still remember the great times we had together and shared. He was talented in every field. Good golfer, musician
and of course softball player. He will be deeply missed by all. What a great guy. More people should be like him. I want to deeply express my condolences to his family. Sally, Sara, and Abby. Along with his siblings Tim, Tom, Molly numerous nieces and nephews as well . God Bless Sincerely Kevin Rutkowski

Dear Burns Family, I knew Jerry through my sister Nanette Malher. Although I did not know him well I was aware of what a wonderful person he truly was. I'm so sorry for your loss.

We are so saddened and broken hearted over Jerry's passing. Shock is not even strong enough to describe it. We think of him and his quick wit, humor, great smile and kind heart. Remembering his playing guitar at back of church atMinooka Bible due to stage shyness. And sharing life with you all in small group. That still ranks as the best group we have been in in 41 years of ministry. We so enjoyed your lives and laughter. It is our great blessing to know you all and how you impacted our lives. Sally, if we can ever help you or your girls please just ask. You are Forever Friends. We will pray for the Lord's peace, love, and strength. All our love, Pastor Greg and Carol
