Tommy Powell, Sr. as many knew him was a "Powell" through and through. Him and my dad Jake were likes two peas in a pod, what one didn't think of the other one would. It is truly ironic that the NHRA Races are happening during his funeral because one of his biggest passions was racing. As a small child I remember going to the race track with him and my dad on weekends and wednesdays, some of the best times in my life. Living in Linton still to this day I have people talking to me about the "Powell Boys", drivng from Chicago to Linton to race at Goosepond and how everyone waited on them to show up.
Not only was my Uncle a great racer but he was the best Uncle a girl could have. This man has always been here for me, talked to me and always had advice for me. He never cared about money and the material things in life. This is a man who cared about those who loved him and he loved them back with open arms.
As for Tommy, Renee and family throughout the years you have cared for him through sadness and pain. Medical issues which have taken there toll on his body but on your lives and hearts as well. I assure you he loved every minute he had with you guys even though he may have argued, grumbled and griped. The care you have all shown him in the past several months is truly an act of love and the true meaning of family.
