Obituary of Ralph Gruben

Ralph F. Gruben Age 90, at rest Monday, August 10, 2015 at Brookdale of Burr Ridge. Born in Joliet to the late Peter J. and Clara (nee Knowles) Gruben, formerly of Peoria, returning to Joliet in 2004. A retired executive for Caterpillar Inc. Graduate of Joliet Township High School where he was voted one of the top 100 athletes of the 20th century and received his bachelors degree from Drake University where he was a proud member of Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity. An avid football player, he was selected to play in the Blue-Gray Bowl in Montgomery, AL and went on to play professional football for the Chicago Rockets. Survived by his two children, Ralph "Randy" (Kris) Gruben of Tehachapi, CA and Dorsey (Andy) Mojden of Hinsdale; four grandchildren, Katie and Erica Gruben and Molly and Kelly Mojden; great-grandfather of four; and several nieces and nephews. Preceded by his beloved wife of 65 years, Lorraine D. (nee Dillman) Gruben (January 9, 2014); his parents; six siblings, Lucille Fitch, Richard Gruben, Clare Belle Glass, Vivian Gruben, Robert Gruben and Shirlee Mulbarger. Private funeral services will be held for the family. Memorials in his name to the Hinsdale Hospital Foundation, 120 N.
