When I first met Anna at a family gathering (although I'm not family to her), upon being introduced, she said "Just call me Gram". And so I have almost always called her "Gram". As I got to know her better, through more family gatherings for holidays and birthdays, I came to admire her spunk and her wonderful spirit. She always had a retort when being teased or heckled - and some that were pretty biting and/or on target. Her quick tongue and ready sense of humor stayed with her even when her body began to fail. Those are the traits I will always remember whenever I think of her.
