Obituary of Doris Smego

Doris L. Smego (nee Schneider) Passed away Monday, February 22, 2016 at Presence Villa Franciscan. Doris was born at home in New Lenox on January 30, 1923. She was the daughter of the late George and Clara Eich Schneider. She married John T. Smego, Sr. on October 26, 1940. She retired from Jewel after 25 years of service. She was a member of the Will County Farm Bureau and the Paulites of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church. She loved working in her yard and took great pride taking care of her flowers and plants. Survivors include her children, Barbara (the late John) Bizzotti, Thomas (Caroline) Smego, and John T. (Ruth Ann) Smego, Jr.; her grandchildren, Herbert (Robin) Perozzi, Sean (Diana) Smego, Sara (Steve) Carter, John T. (Raychel Chesko) Smego, III, JoAnne (Barbara McDaniel) Bayser-McDaniel and Beth Ann (Scott) Arey; great-grandchildren, Jonathan, Christopher, Angela (Don), Lauren (Joseph), Savannah, Kate, Alex and Quinn; great-great-granddaughter, Bella; brother, John Schneider; and sisters in law, Marge Berens and Raquel Schneider. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive. Doris was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, John (2001); her brothers, Edward (Mildred) Berens, Francis (Marge) Berens, Lavern (Mardel) Schneider, and James (Raquel) Schneider; and her sisters, Alice (Maurice) Ardaugh and Irma (Harlow) Fox. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested you to perform a random act of kindness for an individual or family in need. Visitation for Doris Smego will be held Friday, February 26, 2016 from 9:00 a.m. until the time of her Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 18 Woodlawn Avenue, Joliet.
