John A. Lane
Age 89, at rest Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at Salem Village. Born in Three Forks, MT to the late John C. and Elizabeth (Finnegan) Lane. Residing in Joliet since 1956, a W.W.II U.S. Army Veteran. A former educator at Washington Junior High School and Romeoville High School, retiring in 1993. Following retirement John was a substitute teacher at Timber Ridge Junior High School and Heritage Grove Junior High School. Member of Cathedral of St. Raymond Nonnatus, Notre Dame Club, and American Federation of Teachers. John was a collector of Irish humor.
Survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Virginia "Ginny" (Marshall) Lane of Plainfield; his son, Kevin (Georgette) Lane of Plainfield; two grandchildren, Sean Lane of Washington DC and Jessica (Andrew) Jackson of Toulon, IL; two great grandchildren, Samuel and Dean Jackson; one brother, Robert Lane of Three Forks, MT; numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceded by his parents; one brother, Thomas Lane and one sister; Laura Myers.
Private Funeral Services for John A. Lane will be held with interment at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name to the charity of the donor's choice.
