Obituary of Janet E. Fredericksen
Janet E. Fredericksen
(nee Jensen)
Age 69, of Plainfield, passed away peacefully, Thursday, September 15, 2016 at home with her loving family at her side.
Born October 4, 1946 in Morris, she was the daughter of Harold E. and Helen M. (Haldorson) Jensen. She was raised in Reddick, and was Valedictorian of Reddick High School, Class of 1964. She continued her education at the University of St. Francis, and later received a Master's degree in Education from Illinois State University.
Janet taught for over 20 years at Richland Grade School in Crest Hill, where she was active in the teacher's union, Speech Club, and Graduation Committee.
She was a devout Catholic and an active member of the Cathedral of St. Raymond. Janet was an active volunteer for Crisis Line, Crest Hill Junior Miss Softball, and LAM Foundation. She also served as a guest columnist for the Joliet Herald News.
One of her greatest joys was having the opportunity to care for her granddaughters before and after school during her retirement years. She was also an avid reader and loved working puzzles.
Janet will be remembered for her kindness and generosity, and her love for family and friends.
Surviving are her beloved daughters, Ann (John) Provencher of Plainfield and Julie Fredericksen of Naperville; two precious granddaughters, Camilla Provencher and Josephine Provencher; one brother, Kenneth (the late Karen) Jensen of Fisher; a nephew, Rudy Jensen; her niece and goddaughter, Jillian Jensen; a great-nephew, Ian Parada; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
She was preceded by her parents, and a cousin and goddaughter, Greta Haldorson.
