Obituary of Fred S. Cemeno
Fred S. Cemeno
Age 95, peacefully at rest, Thursday, November 24, 2016 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born June 10, 1921 in Joliet, to Joseph and Theresa (nee Chellino) Cemeno. He proudly served with the United States Army during World War II.
He began working at an early age at the family business, Chellino Cheese Company, and is President and Co-Owner of the business.
Fred was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was also known to his great-grandchildren as “Papa Cheese.” He will be remembered for his love and generosity as an adoring husband.
Survived by his children, Nancy Bottino, Carol (Pat) Leahy, Ann (Bill) Tortorello, Mary Fran (Lenny) Traficanto, Josephine (Pete) Spoto, and Liz (Ami) Youhana; 16 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; one brother, Thomas (Polly) Cemeno; a sister-in-law, Janice Cemeno; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his first wife of 27 years, Loretta (nee Fisher) Cemeno; his beloved wife of 46 years, Elsie A. (nee Quattrocki) Cemeno; a son-in-law, Dale Bottino; one daughter, Nancy Prather; one sister, Carm (Frank) Turk; two brothers, Anthony (Theresa) Cemeno and Joseph Cemeno; and one brother-in-law, Salvatore "Tooty" (Frances) Quattrocki.
Funeral Services for Fred S. Cemeno will be held on Monday, November 28, 2016, 9:15 a.m. from the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Roads, Joliet, IL to St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church for Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Entombment will be in Resurrection Mausoleum. Visitation will be Sunday from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Easter Seals, 17300 Ozark Ave, Tinley Park, IL 60477 would be appreciated.
