" Sarge Z"
Age 85 of Joliet, Il at rest peacefully at Suncoast Mid Pinellas Care Center, Pinellas Park, Florida after a courages battle with lukemia. Carl grew up in Joliet, he joined the service and served his country honorably.Carls bravery, during the Korea and Vietnam wars earned him a Purple Heart and multiple bronze medals. He retired with honors from the United States Army as a Sargeant in 1970.
Upon retiring from the United States Army, he was employed with Commonwealth Edison and retired in 1989. Carl was a member of the VFW Stone City Post and American Legion and Dale A.C. His main passion was attending his yearly reunions with the 11th. Armored Cavalry Black Horse L Troop. He also loved traveling to the warmth of their other home in Florida with his beloved wife Pat. While in Florida he enjoyed going to auctions or cruising the park in his Chicago Bears golf cart with his sidekick Casey.
He had a great love for his pets Molly, Chrissy, Casey and the newest member of the family Sadie.
Carl is survived by his beloved wife Patricia (nee Sarver); four children: Carl (Ruth) Ziesmer, Debora (Paul) Duchene, Steve (Sue) Dieter, John (Vicki) Dieter. He also leaves behind eight grandchildren; Daniel (Laura B.) Ziesmer, Laura A. Ziesmer, Michelle Duchene, Danielle Duchene, Zachery (Suzie) Dieter, Chistopher (Julie) Dieter, Jorie Dieter, Matthew (Ariana) Dieter; three great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and many special friends.
Carl was preceded in death by his father Karl Friedrich Ziesemer; mother Anna Mary (nee Patrick) Hughes; step father Everett Emerson Hughes; brother, John Ziesmer and sister, Donna Matriciano.
Funeral Services for Carl E. "Sarge Z" Ziesmer will be held on Tuesday February 14, 2017 at 10 a.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home 3200 Black at Essington Rds., Joliet, IL. Fr. Dennis Paul officiating. Interment Woodlawn Memorial Park with full military honors under the auspices of the United States Army.
