John J. Meduga

Age 74. Peacefully on Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born September 25, 1942 in Chicago, IL to the late Walter and Rose (nee Pazdon) Meduga, raised on the South Side of Chicago, and lived in the suburbs of Chicago before retiring to Channahon. A graduate of CVS High in Chicago and Harold Washington College earning his Associate's Degree. John was a Chicago Police Officer for 13 years before retiring with the Illinois State Police as an Assistant Area 1 Commander with 23 years of service. A member of the Fraternal Order of Police, and a member of Grace Bible Church in Minooka. He enjoyed landscaping his yard, watching sports, hunting, and feeding wildlife.  Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren.

Survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Karen Meduga (nee Culkin) of Channahon; three daughters, Kim (Mike) McCool, Pam (Bill) Lopina and B. Meduga; four grandchildren, Reed, Jamie, Chase, and Joshua; and one sister, Tania Grabowski.  

Preceded by his parents; three sisters, Irene Malek, Helen Warfield and Gladys Marlow; and one brother, Roman Meduga.

Funeral Services for John J. Meduga will be held on Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rds., Joliet. Pastor Jason Miley officiating. Interment Woodlawn Memorial Park II. Memorials in his name to Grace Bible Church or Joliet Community Hospice would be appreciated.
