John was the first person I met as I entered the school to interview for a job teaching second grade. He said "welcome to the new kid on the block." He always had something funny to say. He truly was a good friend.

Dear Terry, Mary Kay, Tim, and Tom and all family members,
I offer my deepest sympathy at the passing of your father. I have many good memories of Uncle Johnny. The farm was a special place for a city kid like me. I remember that your Dad was always up to something interesting. I remember his devotion to your mother and you, his hard work, his generosity, and his terrific sense of humor. His was a life well-lived. I'm sure he was proud of all of you, too.
Sincerely your cousin,
Jeanne

So long Johnny. My condolence to Terry, Mary Kay, Timmy, and Tommy and their families. One of my first jobs is putting bales of hay on the hay rack and stacking hay in the barn on the Old McDonald farm E-I, E-I, EIO. John is a character in book Fly The Flag (Listing on Amazon) and he stands at the doorway in front of the old school, while Mr. Galloway stands by the flagpole looking up at our USA flag, salutes, and then hoists down our US flag and teaches Bull and I how to fold our US flag for an after school discipline, not forgotten, so we have a chance to use our education to do something and make something better happen.
