John Michael McDonald
Age 94. At rest peacefully, Friday, June 30, 2017 at home surrounded by his loving and devoted family. John was born September 20, 1922 in Joliet, IL to James J. and Anna Loretta (nee Kavanaugh).
John was a lifelong member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Minooka and a U.S. Army Veteran of WW II where he received the Bronze Star. John retired from Channahon School District #17. He was a member of the Will County Farm Bureau and VFW Cantigny Post #367. John worked on the family farm all his life and was a cement mason working for local contractors. He enjoyed playing cards, traveling, gardening and looking at the crops growing in the fields.
John is survived by his children; Terry (Beth), Mary Kay (Mike) Theis, Tim (Cindy) and Tom (Donna); proud grandfather of twelve, Michelle (Kellen) Walker, Megan (John) Goolsby, Jake (Mandy) Theis, Erin (Justin) Knapp, Ryne Theis, Timmy (Rhea-Ann), Melissa (Adam) Bell, Joel (fiancé Linnea Leonard), Danny (Jenny) Peterson, Luke (fiancé Molly Olson), Katelyn, and Lindsey (fiancé Zeb Tourt) McDonald; great grandfather of thirteen.
Preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife of 64 years Dolores "Dee" Lillian McDonald (January 20, 2017); sister, Mary Jane Clennon; brother, James E. “Bud” McDonald.

Funeral Services for John Michael McDonald will be held on Thursday, July 6, 2017 at 9:00 a.m. from the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Roads, Joliet will process to St. Mary Catholic Church Minooka, IL where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at St. Mary Cemetery, Minooka, IL. Where full Military Honors will be conducted under the auspices of the United States Army. In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name to Joliet Area Community Hospice or St. Mary Catholic Church Building Fund would be appreciated.
