(nee Ramos) “Marcie”

Marcella D. Gildersleeve (nee Ramos) “Marcie”, age 70, passed away suddenly on Monday, September 4, 2017 at Alexian Brothers Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.  Born and raised in Chicago, she is a graduate of Harrison High School.  Marcie retired from Quaker Oats after more than 30 years of dedicated service. She loved spending time with her family and was known for always having a camera in someone’s face at every gathering.  

She is preceded in death by her parents, Marcelino (1970) and Rachel (2000) Ramos; and her husband, Larry (2008) Gildersleeve.

Marcie is survived by four daughters whom she had with her husband, the late Rich Thoren,  Cheryl (Tom) Burke, April (Jay) Tetrev, Kim (Oscar) Cumpian, and Michelle (Willie) Lawler; one sister, Toni (Mike) Aiello; one brother, Dave (Eileen) Ramos; twelve grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; her dearest friend, Cindy (Tom) Bannack; and her most beloved “Gigi”.  

A memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, September 9, 2017, from 3:00 p.m. until the time of service at 7:00 p.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Roads, Joliet, IL.  As it was her request, cremation rites have been accorded. In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name to the charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated.
