My sincerest condolences to the Diab family. I am so sorry to hear of Salim's passing. He was an inspiration and mentor to so many. A positive light and welcoming spirit that touched many lives. My life was forever changed when I took his Forensic Chemistry and Analytical Chemistry courses at Lewis University. He is without a doubt the reason I had the courage and ability to apply and succeed in graduate school. He was a great professor, an outstanding mentor, and a true friend. May he rest in peace.

I was fortunate enough to have Salim as a professor while attending the College of St. Francis in the late-80's. His passion and enthusiasm he brought to class was contagious. It was years later that a chance meeting gave me the opportunity to see that his enthusiasm and passion was not just for the classroom - but for daily life.
I am sorry for your loss. I will always remember Salim with fond memories and be forever grateful of the lessons he taught me.

I am so sorry for your loss. Dr. Diab was such an amazing professor that challenged me to become a better analytical thinker and taught me many essential labarotory skills that I use to this day. As a colleague and friends of Salim, we would like to give our condolences to all family members and friends.
We and many others whom he touched with his knowledge, creativity, wit, and endless energy will miss him greatly. There is now a void that will never be filled. Hundreds, if not thousands of students have benefitted from his very special form of teaching....he had a way of sharing the process that was a gift only the very best have.
It has been a true honor knowing him.

I was always proud of Salim at our Terra Santa catholic school in Nazareth. In addition to his wonderful and humble personality loved by all, Salim is also the brother of my aunt Najla.
Professor Salim Diab grew up in a blessed family of about dozen siblings with limited financial resources. His intellectual ambitions took him up high to the top and that made all of his family so proud of him.
I met Salim together with aunt Najla, cousins Wadad and George in Los Angeles. Salim appeared in full energy and mental sharpness and intelligence.
My late uncle Said bragged about him and always brought up the success story of Prof. Diab his brother-in-law.
My deepest sympathy to the entire family especially to his mom and to my aunt Najla and my cousins the Azzams.
May God bless his soul.

Although he was my professor for just one class at St. Francis, Chemistry for Non-Chemistry Majors, he would say 'hello' using my name whenever I saw him in the remaining years of my education there. And even years later when I would be on campus, he would ask how I am and he remembered where I worked, and details like that. He was a remarkable teacher and the kind of person who took the time to know and remember people. That one course with him was memorable and one of my favorites. I especially enjoyed his tour of Argonne for our class. His passing is a great loss to the educational system and to the community. He touched many lives in positive way.
