My thoughts are for the family of Marilyn Ruettiger. Marilyn was a secretary for my husband, Harold Miller, when he was an administrator at Joliet Township High School. After I gave birth to my third child, Marilyn came to the hospital to take me home. She had to be the kindest, most thoughtful person ever. She was with me when I reunited with my two older children. She was so excited about the new baby, eager to see the response of my older children, and anxious to have a child of her own. She was a tall, thin beautiful young lady. I did get to be with her after she had her first child. What wonderful memories of such a beautiful person. When I read of her death, the memory of her was so vivid. That was almost 50 years ago. Some memories never die. Some are more vivid than others. Marilyn Ruettiger's memory will always be with me and with so many who knew her.

Dear Larry and family,
I am so sorry you have lost Marilyn. I was about 13 or 14 years old when I met her. She always had a smile on her face and had a delicious sense of humor. I remember the two of you dancing in my parents' basement. She was always so kind to me. I will miss her.
Hugs,
Dorothy & Jim

To the Ruettiger family,
Deepest sympathies from my family to yours. Marilyn was my second mom out there in Elwood, and you all made my childhood a better one. From Larry not kicking Ryan and I in the rears for running wild through everything he planted, to Marilyn constantly feeding us while we played Ikari Warriors in the rec room, to Allen wasting much of his dating years allowing me and Ryan to use him as our 'guide' running through the woods, your family was what made Elwood home. I haven't spoken or seen you bunch in a decade or more, but you will all always have a place in my heart. I consider you family and I know you will all band together to navigate this tragic time. To Marilyn, thank you for putting up with all of us and know that this world is just a bit worse off with you not around.
Love,
Ron, Mandy, Paige, and Lane Blankenship

Dear Larry and family,
So sorry to read of Marilyn's passing. My thoughts and prayers go out to you. I used to ride the bus years ago from Plainfield into Joliet and became friends with Marilyn. I attended your wedding and reception years ago and met the handsome Michael Wolcott who I dated for several years and wished we had married. I lost my dear mother on July 30 this year. She also knew Marilyn and attended your wedding with me.
