Obituary of Mary Alice McAleese
Mary Alice McAleese, age 89, of Joliet, and formerly of Winfield, passed away Saturday, July 4, 2020 at Rock Run Memory Care.
Born January 25, 1931 in Chicago, she was the daughter of Charles and Alice (Walsh) Feeney.
She worked as a medical receptionist for the Elmhurst Clinic, and Dr. Edmund Code, and retired from DuPage Obstetrics and Gynecology.
Mary was a wonderful and devoted mother and grandmother. She loved to travel and especially enjoyed her trips to Ireland and Hawaii. She will be remembered for being the perfect hostess for many family gatherings over the years, and for her Swedish meatballs.
Surviving are her children, John (Tammy) McAleese of Wonder Lake, IL and Laurie (Mike) Williams of Joliet; five grandchildren, Jordan, Justin and Jenna McAleese and Megan and Sarah Williams; two brothers, Martin (Gloria) Feeney and William (Jill) Feeney; sisters-in-law, Louise McAleese, Shirley Langfield, and Sr. Mary Ellen McAleese, OSF; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John McAleese (2012); her parents; one sister, Kathryn Feeney; and four brothers, Charles, Robert, John and James Feeney.
The family would like to thank the staff of Rock Run Memory Care for their love and support over the past four and one-half years.
Visitation for Mary McAleese will be held Thursday, July 9, 2020 from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m., at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Road (at Essington Road), Joliet. Funeral services will be Thursday, at 10:45 a.m. from the funeral home to St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 18 Woodlawn Avenue, Joliet, for Mass at 11:30 a.m. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, West Chicago.
