We are so sorry for your loss. We loved sitting by Steve at the JCA volleyball games, such a fun and friendly guy. He was always the first to congratulate the boys for a game well played and so encouraging. Prayers for you all

Dear Kathleen, my sister told me about your husband. He sounds like a good man, and devoted and loving father, and I am so very sorry for your loss. There are no words, but please know I am holding you and your family in my heart and in my thoughts during this terribly hard, surreal time.

I am so sad to hear of Steve's passing. I remember when he and I first met at the Dunkin' Doughnuts in Shorewood to figure out how we were going to coach our daughter's 5th grade basketball team. Such good times, and it seems like only yesterday. I feel lucky to count Steve as a friend and will remember his passion for life and sports. My sincerest condolences to all of Steve's family and friends.

My sincerest condolences to the Byrd Family for the loss of Steve. The comments in his obituary that he possessed a charismatic personality, and that Steve never met a stranger, were spot-on. He was a wonderful colleague and a joy to work with at each opportunity. He will be remembered and missed by all of us who had the pleasure to know and work with him.
