Neil, I can’t express enough how much your friendship has meant to me (especially over the last 5 years). When I was “kicked to the curb” by my former employer, You came through for me by providing work for me when I needed it most. I’ll ALWAYS remember that. To be honest, you weren’t always the easiest person to work for (others who worked for you would back me on that! Lol), BUT I always knew you had my back even though I had very little (if any) concrete skills.
You had more integrity and character than any other small business owner I’d ever known or done business with..! You gave me the biggest compliment when you told me that I was the most dependable person that ever worked for you. I’ll Always Remember and Treasure that!
Most everyone knew what a tough person you were, but I hope that they also knew what a kind person you were. I knew You had a Heart of Gold, Neil.!!
I know how much you loved your family, and how extremely proud of them you were by the many stories you told of them!
Having a conversation with You on the phone was (at times) exhausting because you never seemed to have a shortage of words... and many of our calls went over an hour in length... You left me over a 3 minute message on New Years Eve. I now wish I had taken your call or at least had the opportunity to speak with you one more time (even if it were only for a minute)to let you know how much your friendship meant to me!
I Love You & Miss You Brother!!! Hope to see you on the other side! RIP My Friend

DREAM BIG
NEAL, I’m so sorry I never had a chance to say goodbye the way it needed to be done so I’m doing it here. You were always a great friend and great soul. All you wanted was what was best for your friends and family and you achieved that. Your personality was sometimes questionable, depending on how much you had to drink the night before or if the bears won or not.
Lol!
Either way you were always making us laugh whenever you we’re around. Your smile was infectious when talking to people and you were able to keep people at ease. You were always accepting of people no matter what the situation. You also Encouraged people to do their best. Even if they were not accepting you still push them harder to do better.
You never closed the door on any one because you believed that everyone had potential, a purpose. And you lived that every day of your life. You loved your family, you loved life and it showed.
Love is only a word but brother you gave it meaning not only with talk but with action! So I say to all of you who will read this I say, what can You do to be a better person ? What can You do to keep my brothers sprit alive and well? Not only in the days or months to come but the years to come. One act of kindness is what we can all do because thats what he would want us to do. Be kind to one another. Take a break and say Hey i love you.
Brother you always shared your time and your knowledge, with everyone you encountered and we will always appreciate it for as long as we are here on this earth.
One day when your children get older and they have there own children they will one day talk to them about there pop-pop and say nothing but good things about YOU and in there own minds they can finally say
DAD I FINALLY GET IT.

I didn’t know anyone in Illinois at the time, I was only 22, and I was trying to make a name for myself. I called on Neil to help me with a job I was contracting and he came through. Our age gap was nothing, he became a mentor and a friend. 16 years have gone by and all we did as of late was argue about politics online. After the events today I went to angrily message him only to see he had deceased. I dropped to my knees. I’m regretting that we have let politics breed and come between us. As much as I was frustrated, I was more devastated knowing we lost a good man. Moving forward I vow to be a better man free of politics and more about being a father and mentor like he was to me before we got to this point. I know this is not the typical message you want to hear , but despite political beliefs, I would’ve gone to war for this man. We went through a lot in a short time and my heart hurts for his family. He was a good man. Thank you Neil for touching my life and I am so sorry I didn’t get to relish in the joys of life before you passed. This is perhaps the biggest lesson I take from you.

Coach Fowler was an inspiration and a role model to me when I played junior football at Plainfield South. He taught me to toughen up and was always kind to me and everyone no matter what. My sincerest condolences, may he rest in peace.

Neil and I hit it off the very first time we met. Then as the years passed we got close, and talked about everything from soup to nuts when together. One time while in Penna he was admiring my Jeep Wranger, and said where's the keys? Well, I thought for a moment; I've never let anyone in my life drive any of the vehicles. Not even my kids. My vehicles were like a shrine to me. Yet the look on his face, I couldn't say no. So in he gets behind the wheel, but he was almost to big to fit. His arms were against the inside of the door, and the arm rest, and the steering wheel was tight against his chest. Yet he had the time of his life, and said; I gotta get one of these things. I loved that guy!

Neil was awesome guy. I will never forget when the first time I meet him years ago when he came to my dads house and started talking about ghost hunting and all. He would always come to shorewood home depot and give me a hard time and we would talk about everything in the world. He will definitely be missed alot.
