My sincerest condolences to the whole Stuart family. I met Ron when I began teaching at Fenwick and even after his retirement, we kept in touch. Ron was a kind and gentle man who will be dearly missed. I will always treasure the memories I have of visiting him during cross country meets held in the park behind his house. I am grateful for the friendship and hospitality that Laurie and Ron showed me. I will cherish all the memories I have knowing Ron for the past ten years. I'm so sorry I was not able to attend Ron's memorial but he and his entire family are in my prayers.

Uncle Ron was my God Father and a lifelong loyal friend to my father. It was always comforting to hear of their breakfasts and phone calls together. I know how important they were to my dad and knowing they were seeing each other and talking about their kids and grandkids was a feeling I appreciated and thought about often. I feel blessed to have had him in my life. I was shocked and saddened to hear of his sudden passing. I am so sorry I am unable to attend his services to pay my respects in person, but my thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Ron was so nice to my son. Casey . Before he entered Fenwick Ron invited him to cast with the bass fishing team because of his interest in fishing. He retired from Fenwick before my son started at the school, but Casey was Bass fishing captain his senior year . Thank you Ron for being so kind to a student that had not enrolled yet. I always liked talking to Ron at the faculty Christmas parties. He had that infectious laugh. God Bless .

Part of my childhood was spent on my dad’s farm near Portage, Wisconsin. My dad, Robert Thompson, met Ron while teaching in Chicago. As a boy, I remember Ron’s visits to that farm. He left a very distinct impression on me. He was a gentle giant. I always saw him as bigger than life. With his inviting smile, open arms and memorable laugh, he would always lift us up off the ground with a big bear hug when he greeted us. I will never forget how loved I felt when in his sweet embrace. My siblings also felt similarly. So much so, that we gave him the nickname, “Oso”, which means bear in Spanish. I have many memories of waiting for his red Volkswagen Microbus to come down our bumpity driveway, as we all exited the house to greet his arrival. Every one of us wanted to be first in line to get his memorable hugs. Sometimes he’d have to hug several of us at the same time. He taught us about nature, gardening and how to always be kind to others. I will always cherish those memories and be forever grateful for the life lessons he imparted. You will be missed my friend. However, I do find solace in knowing that Ron finally gets to feel all the love he gave in life coming back to him, as he is enveloped in the warm embrace of eternity. Rest In Peace, Oso. I love you.
