Carla was among the most amazing students I ever had the privilege to teach. You may remember me (James/Jim Talarico) as one of her teachers at Laraway School. I have never forgotten her kindness and the brilliance that glowed even as a young girl. Her writing was waaaaaaaaaay above the average in terms of fluency and structure, an early sign of the talents she was gifted with. As a sidenote, I remember somehow a HUGE four-door (blue?) convertible (a Lincoln?) that was amazing, driven by her mother with an enormous smile--but more importantly, being able to work with Carla back in the days when I was still learning what a good teacher was and could be. She helped me grow into a profession that I loved until I retired. Special hello and condolences to Brian. Hugs to you and your family. As ever, Jim Talarico
