Obituary of Karen A. Medina

Age 62, of Coal City, IL passed from this life Friday December 9, 2021 at Riverside Medical Center in Kankakee, IL.  She was born August 19, 1959 to the late Catherine (nee Hickey) and George Molina Medina in Chicago, IL.  She was raised in a loving home and while being mildly challenged, she always was a big part of all family celebrations and get-togethers.

Karen is the beloved sister of Thomas Carter, Margaret (Wayne) Grider, the late Kathleen Crouch, Linda (the late Barry) Johnson, Michael Medina and the late Angelina (Ignacio) Aguilar.  She is also a loving aunt, great aunt and great-great aunt.

Karen really enjoyed the holidays and anxiously awaited her birthday with subtle reminders weeks in advance.  A happy-go-lucky soul, you could find her coloring, crocheting (self taught), watching the movie "Shirley Temple" or singing loud and proud to her favorite song, "Kathy's Clown" for hours.  Her other favorites were her cassette player, the weaving loom, her Molly doll, visiting the Doctor and the time she spent residing at the Citadel.

As her parents aged, Karen's siblings saw to it that she would be surrounded by love and support throughout her life. In retrospect, her family feels so fortunate and blessed to have had Karen's kind and pure soul in their lives. She will forever be in their hearts.

Cremation rites have been accorded and Karen's final earthly remains will be interred with her parents at Fredonia Cemetery in Fredonia, Kentucky.
