I'm really going to miss playing hockey with Kodey. We played together at the Plainfield YMCA, Eich's in Plainfield and at the park in Plainfield with Andrew and Matt. He was a great friend. I can't believe he's gone, I'm going to miss him. I'm praying for him and his family.

Kodey was a wonderful kid who was a great friend to all three of my sons. Although he was the age of my oldest, he always treated my younger boys as if they were just part of the group. I loved him for that. There were so many epic basement hockey games and late night sleepovers through the years. Kodey was the kid that was never a problem. In the mornings I would say “well I heard lots of loud voices til about 4 am, but Kodey, I never once heard yours.” He would just smile.
Kodey also was so caring. Once when my son did something at school that worried him. He went home and told his mom that he was concerned about Andrew. Mary Ann called me and told me what Kodey had said. I was so happy to know that Andrew had an amazing friend like that, that was looking out for him at school. I will never forget that he did that for Andrew.
I also got to see the wonderful brother Kodey was over and over again through the many years of this friendship. Kodey is born the same month as my Andrew and Schyler is born just a day apart from my Matthew. Together these four spent so much time together. Kodey and Schyler were truly great brothers though. They stuck together and stuck up for each other. I saw it so many times and that bond seemed to only grow after Mary Ann passed away two years ago. I know that Kodey is going to continue to be on the lookout for his brother and friends, but now he will be sitting alongside his mother. When I picture them together again I can’t help but smile, but boy will we miss him here.
