Obituary of Gretchen M. Ochsenschlager

Gretchen M. Ochsenschlager, age 83, of Joliet, passed away Monday, September 19, 2022 at Ascension St. Joseph Medical Center.

Born April 18, 1939 in Aurora, she was the daughter of the late Lambert and Kathryn (nee Erickson) Ochsenschlager, and was a long time Joliet area resident.  Gretchen received a Master’s Degree in Social Work from Loyola University of Chicago and worked for the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services from 1970 until her retirement in 1999.

Animal welfare was always a prime concern to her.  She loved all animals, and was very passionate about animal rescue work.

Gretchen is survived by her brother, Steven Whitney, her cousins, and many wonderful friends.

As it was Gretchen's final wishes, cremation rites have been accorded and interment will be in Michigan where her heart always remained.
