When I was a single mom and my son and I went out to Dan and Jane's campsite for a birthday party, the tornado sirens went off. Gene got us all to a shelter and when it was all.clear to leave, he insisted I call when I got home safely because it was an hour drive. Always.kind, always helpful is how i.remeber him.

What a wonderful man Gene was. A sweet, faithful companion to my mom, friend to my sister and me, grandfather figure to Luke, a very proud, concerned daddy to his four children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, superb caregiver to Peanut, Bruno, and many other 4-legged babies, and God-fearing and loving. We are honored to have known Gene. We will see him again.
