Gregory Allen Sorenson
Gregory Allen Sorenson, of Plainfield, IL, passed away at the age of 55, on Thursday, January 11, 2024, surrounded by the love of his family. Greg was born in Oak Park, IL, on December 6, 1968, the son of the late James and Roberta (nee Lucneti) Sorenson. He grew up in Chicago, IL and graduated in 1987 from Holy Cross High School where he played football and was on the wrestling team. Greg proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Persian Gulf War. He was a Sheriff with the Cook County Department of Corrections for 30 years.
In his free time, Greg enjoyed Camping with family and friends, riding his Harley, and was a car enthusiast.
Greg is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Victoria (nee Ciancio) Sorenson; children, Kristina Mullen, Samantha Sorenson, Nicholas Sorenson, and Christopher Sorenson; grandson, Mason Skoczen; his brother, James (Nadine) Sorenson, II; and his niece, Shayla Sorenson.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation for Gregory Allen Sorenson will be held on Saturday, January 20, 2024, at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd. (at Essington Rd.), Joliet, IL, from 2:00 p.m. until the time of funeral service at 7:00 p.m. Full military honors will be held under the auspices of the United States Navy. As it was his request, cremation rites will be accorded following the services.
