Obituary of Lee Haldorson

Raymond Lee Haldorson Sr, age 78, known to his friends and family as Lee, passed peacefully at his home in Joliet, IL on the morning of Thursday, February 1, 2024. Lee was born in Joliet, IL to the late Betty (Petersen) Haldorson and Raymond Haldorson. He was raised in the small town of Elwood, IL.

Lee is the beloved husband of 47 years to Patricia (Stavins) Haldorson; loving father to Raymond Lee Haldorson Jr., Michael Patrick Haldorson, Lisa Marie (Haldorson) Diaz; loving father-in-law to Ezequiel Diaz; proud grandfather to Cristian and Bruno; dear brother to William ‘Bill’ Haldorson; dear brother-in-law to Maria Testa-Haldorson, Fred Stavins, and Rosemary Stavins; and a loyal uncle to many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Patricia’s parents Fred and Theresa Stavins, his sister-in-law Kathy (Maxey) Haldorson, and his two infant grandchildren Pedro and Lucas Diaz.

A retired educator of over 30 years, Lee was a Dean at A. Vito Martinez Junior High School and taught sixth grade at Robert C. Hill (Parkview) Elementary School, both located in Romeoville, IL.

Through his years, Lee enjoyed riding bikes with his kids, traveling the United States with his family, getting out on his motorcycle, going to the gym, working at and frequenting the local fairs, singing and dancing with his grandchildren, or doing anything that his family found enjoyment in.

All friends and family are invited to gather at First Presbyterian Church, 805 Western Ave, Joliet on Friday, February 9, 2024. Viewing will be from 10:00 am until 12:00 noon, which will be followed by funeral services starting promptly at 12:00 noon. At the conclusion of funeral services, everyone is encouraged to stay and interact where there will be food and drink in the fellowship hall of the church.

As it was Lee’s wish, cremation rites will be accorded after services and interment will be private. As Lee has a soft spot for animals, memorials in his name, in lieu of flowers, can be made to the Joliet Township Animal Control, a no-kill shelter in Joliet, at 2807 McDonough St, Joliet or 815-725-0333 or visit their website at http://www.joliettownshipanimalcontrol.net/donate/.

Thank you all, in advance, for any part that you take in these upcoming days. The memories shared and your presence during these times is immeasurable. The Haldorson family is grateful beyond words.
