Doug was my Sigma Chi pledge son at the University of Illinois. I feel blessed to have known such a energetic, charismatic, and caring person - one I'm truly proud to call Brother. Although my heart aches at the present time, the countless memories will always brighten the past, and I know an amazing reunion awaits in the future.

My dear friend, I will miss you. The world was a better place with you in it. I will cherish the memories that today bring a smile and laughter to my face. I hope you are flying free with Sheena by your side.

I echo the sentiment that Renee so beautifully wrote. I can't think of any heartfelt words that can express my feelings which such elegance and grace.

What an amazing life & journey. I'm glad the part about student-teaching at St. John's was included. I remember this larger than life person on our playground joining in the dodgeball and football games. Students were just attracted to Doug. Not surprised to see all he accomplished in life. Praying for you Sheila and your entire family during this difficult time.

My heartfelt condolences to Mom Sasso, Karen, Sheila, Cindy and the rest of the family. This is one of the saddest periods of my entire life to lose my lifelong best friend (since 1st grade). I feel a tidal wave of sorrow.
