A lifelong Joliet area resident, Lynda was a graduate of Joliet West High School and Joliet Junior College. She earned her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in education from the University of St. Francis. Lynda dedicated years of her life to helping others and had a passion for aiding families of children with special needs. She retired from Eagle Point Elementary School in Plainfield after making a lifelong impact on the many students she had the pleasure of teaching throughout the Joliet, Plainfield, and Romeoville schools. She was also a proud member of the Beta Mu chapter of the Alpha Delta Kappa Teaching Sorority.
Lynda married her best friend, Larry and together they built a life, having four children and constructing two houses themselves. The couple spent over fifty years together sharing a million wonderful memories. Some of their favorites include swimming, ballroom dancing, visiting Frank Lloyd Wright landmarks, and curling up to watch Hallmark movies, Dancing with the Stars, or Call the Midwife. Lynda and Larry loved traveling to explore new places together from family vacations around the country to cruises to Alaska and Paris.
Lynda was an incredible mother and grandmother. There was nothing she enjoyed more than being involved in the lives of her children and grandchildren. From Den Mom/Girl Scout Troop Leader, to filling in as the soccer coach, she was always willing to help. She was a devoted cheerleader, attending every activity that she could. Lynda went out of her way to let her family know how important they were to her. She shared her love through her many talents including making crafts, baking homemade birthday cakes, and sewing Halloween costumes. She enjoyed playing card and board games, and was also an amazing cook, treating her friends and family to the most delicious food that truly came from the heart.
Her Catholic faith was another important part of Lynda’s life. For many years, she volunteered as a leader of the children’s liturgy during mass. Even through her tough battle with cancer, Lynda always looked to God for hope, strength, and the will to continue enduring all of her treatments.
